So close, yet so way, way far away.
The Phoenix Suns discovered how far they really are from having a team capable of competing with the defending NBA champions in Monday night’s 132-109 loss to Golden State on New Year’s Eve.
The Warriors put the Suns away with two runs in building a 21-point lead at the end of the third quarter as Phoenix never got closer than 22 for the remainder of the game.
“There’s such a low margin for error when you play the champs,” Suns coach Igor Kokoskov said.
The Warriors used a 24-7 run to turn a 45-45 game into a 69-52 halftime advantage.
