Chris Paul contract speculation surfaces before Phoenix Suns' 2021 NBA playoffs debut

The Phoenix Suns haven't even started their postseason and speculation is already starting to surround the future of point guard Chris Paul.

Paul, 36, could decline his player option for next season with the Suns and become a free agent.

He is the second-highest paid player in the league this season with a salary over $41.3 million and will make $44.2 million next season if he chooses to not decline his option.

Should the Suns be worried about possibly losing Paul in free agency?

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski addressed the situation in a recent podcast, bringing up Paul going to the Knicks as a potential "leverage point" for Paul in possible contract talks with the Suns, but also stating that New York "also could be a reality.
