William Karlsson's goal with 43 seconds to play gave the Vegas Golden Knights a 1-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes Sunday afternoon.
Darcy Kuemper stopped 26 shots but couldn't do much about Karlsson's late winner from in front of the net on a puck the Coyotes couldn't clear, just as it seemed they would force overtime.
The Coyotes gave up more quality chances while not being able to generate many of their own, their possessions often ending quickly with puck dump-ins to their offensive zone that went nowhere and passes that didn't connect consistently.
Both teams came close for the day's first goal in the third period.
