Arizona Coyotes 'dealt a bad hand' with early schedule, but finding ways to win

The Coyotes have spent so much time on the road during the first quarter-plus of the season that head coach Rick Tocchet might need to redistribute maps to his players with directions for Gila River Arena.

Entering Wednesday night, Arizona had played just one home game in its previous eight contests and three over the prior 15. Wednesday marked just the ninth home game for the Coyotes against 15 on the road.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Tocchet said. “There’s no doubt we’ve been dealt a bad hand. It’s tough.”

But the Coyotes have embraced the “road warrior” mentality, using the adversity as motivation over recent games.
