Preseason serves as a chance for players to get fully into playing shape, getting some in-game reps, and ultimately get ready for the upcoming season. And in most of those games, the reserves get more playing time than the normal starters.
Preseason gives the reserves a chance to get some valuable reps, and is one of the few times during the year when they can make an impression on the technical staff. For the Union, new players such as Marcus Epps and Adam Najem can show how they have adapted to MLS game after playing in college.
