Villanova ends scoreless drought in 1-0 win over Saint Joseph’s

Villanova’s scoring draught had reached 300 minutes to start the season when head coach Chris McLain went to his bench and sent grad student Sam Rosette into a home match against Saint Joseph’s in the rain Sunday afternoon.

Minutes later, Rosette got in behind the Hawks defense thanks to a lovely line-splitting pass from Makayla Stadler and put the finishing touches on a goal 15 months in the making. The Wildcats last scored on November 3, 2019 in a 1-0 win over DePaul.

They had started the season with three straight losses to Philly Soccer Six opponents La Salle, Temple and Drexel while being outscored 8-0.
