Alex Morgan and Lindsey Horan led a dominating performance by the U.S. women’s national team’s attack in a 5-0 win over New Zealand in Cincinnati.
It was the second win in five days for the Americans over the Football Ferns, after a 3-1 victory last Friday in Commerce City, Colorado.
Lindsey Horan got the Americans off to a nice start in the rematch, scoring on a header in the 36th minute.
Horan’s goal came just a few minutes after she entered the game as a planned substitute for Cincinnati native Rose Lavelle. The 22-year-old playmaker has been working her way back from a hamstring injury suffered in mid-June, and showed a few flashes of the skill that has made her one of the national team’s most promising prospects.
