Yesterday we explained the different scenarios that would result in the Union clinching a playoff spot this weekend. A lot had to with the results from two Wednesday night matches for Orlando City SC and Columbus Crew SC. With both results finalized this morning, the Union could still clinch on Saturday because of the results from both matches.
Here’s what happened on Wednesday night:
- Columbus lost to D.C. United 3-0
- Orlando tied Toronto FC 0-0
What this means for the Union:
- In order for the Union to clinch with a win, they needed Columbus to gain no more than three points between their two matches.
