Union coach Jim Curtin expressed optimism that forward C.J. Sapong would be available Saturday for the Major League Soccer match against Toronto FC at Talen Energy Stadium. Sapong, who scored the first goal last Saturday in a 4-0 win over the host New England Revolution, was injured late in the half.
He suffered a head injury going up for a ball against defender Jose Goncalves.
"At halftime we thought he would be able to continue, but then he started to get a little bit of discomfort with his neck so we made the proactive decision" not to play him, Curtin said Tuesday.
