Union midfielder Haris Medunjanin scored what seemed in the moment to be a big goal in Saturday’s home World Cup qualifier against Belgium, but it wasn’t enough in the end as Belgium prevailed 4-3.
Making his first appearance for Bosnia since last June, Medunjanin scored in the 30th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Belgium’s Thomas Meunier had put the visitors ahead in just the fourth minute.
Bosnia took the lead in the 39th minute, as Edin Visca capitalized on a defensive mishap by Belgian centerback Jan Vertonghen and finished on a breakaway.
The home team did everything it could to hold on to the lead, but Belgium’s star power proved too much.
