After setting a personal record for goals in a season last year with 16, C.J. Sapong came into this year carrying the label of being a team-leading striker for the Union.
On Tuesday, he got a new contract to go along with the title.
Sapong’s good form last year won him a first U.S. national team call-up since 2012 in November. He won another invitation in January. In the Union’s season opener on March 3, he opened his account for the year with a goal and an assist.
Stewart, Sapong and Union manager Jim Curtin will have more to say after Thursday morning’s practice in Chester.
