Union trade Pfeffer to Colorado

Zach Pfeffer, who signed with the Union at 15 as a homegrown player in their inaugural season in 2010, was traded Friday to the Colorado Rapids to complete a draft-day trade.

The Union acquired the No. 2 overall pick from Colorado for general allocation money and a player to be named later. Pfeffer, 21 and a graduate of Upper Dublin High School, turned out to be that player.

The Union selected Georgetown center back Joshua Yaro with the No. 2 overall selection in Thursday's Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Pfeffer didn't see any action in that first season and appeared in only nine MLS games in the first five seasons before making 21 appearances last year, including 11 starts.
