One of the bright spots in a disappointing start for the Union has been the play of C.J. Sapong. The forward, who ended last season in a prolonged slump, has scored in three consecutive games, providing three of the four goals the team has earned this season.
The Union (0-2-2) will look to snap what is now an 11-game regular-season winless streak (0-7-4) when they host the Portland Timbers 7 p.m. Saturday at Talen Energy Stadium.
It won't be easy to snap their skid since Portland (3-1-1) leads the Western Conference with 10 points.
Sapong has prospered as his playing time this year dwindled.
