Philadelphia Union provided fans with fireworks during and after match. Philadelphia’s newly elected All-Star Andre Blake shutout D.C. United for the second time this season and Ilsinho provided a brace in the 3-0 victory. The win puts the Union within a point of the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Union entered the match on a losing streak in MLS competition for the first time in their 2016 campaign. For a young team in unfamiliar territory it was crucial that they responded in a positive fashion. Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin felt his team did exactly that.
