Union make MLS history with youngest backline

Philadelphia Union made MLS history on Saturday night in Colorado in their match against the Rapids. The club started the youngest backline in the history of the league with Matt Real (18-years-old), Auston Trusty (19-years-old), Jack Elliott (22-years-old) and Keegan Rosenberry (24-years-old) starting defensively for Philadelphia.

The historical event for the Union is a testament to how the club is willing to play matches this season. Philadelphia entered this season with the mindset of giving younger players a chance to play, whether that was players taken recently in the draft, or players developed through the club’s Academy.

For Head Coach Jim Curtin, the news of making history due to their youth did not come as a surprise to him.
