Union fall to Red Bulls in preseason scrimmage

The Philadelphia Union fell to the New York Red Bulls, 4-3, in their first action of preseason. The two sides played three 45-minute periods.

Since the game was not streamed, all we have to go by are updates from the teams’ official twitter accounts.

After the first period ended scoreless, both sides got on the board in the second. CJ Sapong earned and converted a penalty to put the Union ahead after 18 minutes.

Derrick Etienne Jr. tied up the game 18 minutes later.

The third period saw a flurry of goals.
