- Philadelphia Union brought in six new players this offseason (not including the draft). Jay Simpson, Giliano Wijnaldum, Haris Medunjanin, Oguchi “Gooch” Onyewu, Fafa Picault and Adam Najem
- Simpson appeared for English Premier League Power Arsenal during the 2008-09 campaign, where he made three first team appearances in the League Cup. He scored two goals in the Round of 16 against Wigan and appeared on the bench for two UEFA Champions League fixtures.
