Union battle through, knock off NYCFC for win

The Union hosted NYCFC at Talen Energy Stadium on a beautiful Saturday evening and earned a hard fought 2-0 win to move into the top spot of Eastern Conference. The team’s top two goal scorers, C.J. Sapong and Chris Pontius, put in two first half goals, and Andre Blake posted a clean sheet to earn the three points.

The game was not the prettiest game of the season, but they found a way to win, just like they have been all year.

“Not happy with our overall game on the day, but at the same time good teams find ways to win when it is not their best night,” head coach Jim Curtin said.
