A perfect US Soccer Development Academy Showcase came to a close Friday for the Union Academy U14’s, who won all three of their matches against a very difficult slate of opponents. Over the course of their run, they earned wins over MLS rivals Seattle Sounders and San Jose Earthquakes, and a well-established Crossfire Premier side.
Coach Gary Lewis noted that the U14’s "made the most of the rain by scoring goals and sliding through the puddles to celebrate." Speaking to the performance of the squad, Coach Lewis said, “the boys have developed their tactical understanding over the year and imposed the Union’s style and identity to overcome strong opponents with collective flair and resilience sprinkled, with some fantastic moments of individual brilliance.
