Tributes to ‘Black Panther’ actor Chadwick Boseman on display at Subaru Park

Several Philadelphia Union players did the Wakanda Forever salute upon entering the stadium Saturday night and artist Ryan Bross painted a special tifo honoring Chadwick Boseman, the 43-year-old actor who lost his battle with cancer on Friday.

Bross was inspired by the original comic book look of the Black Panther character, which was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee and first appeared in 1966. Kirby’s birthday happened to be Friday. He died in 1994.

Prior to the start of Saturday’s match against D.C. United, several players could be seen crossing their arms in tribute to Boseman and the iconic character he played in four Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, including the 2018 movie Black Panther.
