John McCarthy has had one heck of a month.
Andre Blake left the Union for the Jamaican National Team and to compete in the Gold Cup for the Reggae Boyz, and McCarthy was tasked with filling his shoes and protecting the Union net, starting with the team's matchup against Sporting Kansas City. It was McCarthy's first MLS start since September 2016 and just his third start in all competitions up until that point.
Fast forward to ahead of the Union's match against FC Dallas, and McCarthy has started five matches, earned a shutout and has been named MLS Save of the Week twice during his month-long run.
