This isn't the same old Union

WHAT CONSTITUTES the end to the start of a season is an undefined measurement.

Sometimes it depends on whether a team wants to emphasize that it is having success or diminish the fact that it is struggling.

Historically, the Philadelphia Union has never worried about that because it has generally begun the season behind an eight ball and then fallen further behind.

Going into Saturday's home game against the San Jose Earthquakes, the Union has completed about 20 percent of the 34-game Major League Soccer regular season.

The ZOLOs have more wins (four) and points (12) than they've ever accumulated through the first seven games of a season.
