Report: Earnie Stewart interviewed for USMNT general manager position

Philadelphia Union sporting director Earnie Stewart recently interviewed for the newly created general manager position for the United States Men’s National Team, according to a report on MLSsoccer.com.

The report from Sam Stejskal cites unnamed sources identifying both Stewart and former New York Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis as candidates who have been interviewed for the post, which was created in December by the U.S. Soccer’s Board of Directors.

The search committee for the post, which includes executives, board members and former national team players, was charged with identifying up to six candidates for the position and making a recommendation to the Board of Directors.
