Saturday night was a night of many firsts: the first game in Talen Energy Stadium for David Accam, MLS debuts for Anthony Fontana, Auston Trusty and Cory Burke and the first time the Union opened a season at home with three points.
Fontana, an 18-year-old high schooler senior from Newark, Delaware had himself a dream debut, scoring a goal that eventually held up as the winner and CJ Sapong got a goal to save some face after missing three chances he’s used to converting. Cory Burke set up the Sapong strike with a lovely bit of skill to register his first point for the first time in his MLS debut off the bench.
