Pontius continues to shine as Union lose at home for the first time since September of 2015

Philadelphia Union dropped their first match at Talen Energy Stadium since Sept. 12, 2015 tonight against Vancouver Whitecaps 3-2. Despite falling behind 3-1 in the closing minutes, the Union scratched and clawed their way back to a one goal deficit.

Chris Pontius made his first appearance off the bench this season a memorable one. Pontius recorded his team-leading sixth goal of the season in stoppage time. The 29 year-old from Yorba Linda, California has brought a calming presence to his new club and it hasn’t gone unnoticed from Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin who emphasized what Pontius’ role was with his club.
