It's already been another busy summer of soccer for Fox Sports, for me, and for soccer fans everywhere. This is the time of year where we close the books on one tournament, and just days later begin a new adventure.
In today's column, I will try to put the Confederations Cup in perspective and then in the rear view mirror, so we can look ahead to the Gold Cup which starts this Friday.
From a Confederations Cup point of view, it seems like Russia as a nation passed it's first test. Can't really compare an 8 team tournament to a 32 team World Cup, but suffice to say that if Russia had major problems here in 2017 with 8 teams, then we could expect bigger problems when they host the World Cup in less than a year.
