Philadelphia Union U16s win first match of Generation adidas Cup finals

The Philadelphia Union U16 team opened their Generation adidas Cup finals campaign on Friday with a 5-0 win over New England Revolution in Frisco, Texas.

It was the second time in the competition this season the Union have beat New England by a lopsided scoreline. The U16s won 4-0 in an East qualifier match at the Power Training Complex in October.

Goalkeeper Kristopher Shakes registered the clean sheet in the match and Brenden Aaronson and Chad Letts each had two goals to lead the offense while Axel Picazo also added a goal. Letts has scored six goals in the competition since qualification began to lead the Union.
