After falling behind for the first time in the tournament surrendering a goal in the first minute of play, the Philadelphia Union Academy responded with four unanswered goals to advance to the semifinals of the Concacaf Under-13 Champions League.
Newcomer Angel Gael Medrano, a recent addition to the academy from Michigan, led the comeback with goals in the 11th, 20th, 29th and 34th minutes to defeat Guerreros Coahuila of Mexico 4-1.
Medrano was the second player from the Union to score a hat trick in Costa Rica, joining Matthew Routzahn, who recorded a hat trick in the first game.
