Bethlehem Steel FC/Philadelphia Union Academy defender Auston Trusty and the U.S. U20 team beat Japan 2-1 on Sunday to win the NTC Invitational tournament in California.
Trusty started all three tournament matches for the U.S. U20s. Ritsu Doan’s sixth minute goal on Sunday was the only goal Trusty and the back line conceded. Clean sheets were recorded against Costa Rica and Panama.
The Media, PA native paired with Syracuse sophomore Miles Robinson in central defense for all three matches, Trusty to the left and Robinson to the right. Trusty played 90 minutes in the Costa Rica and Japan matches, but was subbed out in the 68th minute with the U.
