A tremendous first half for the Philadelphia Union leads to their third straight win, and the calls for Jim Curtin’s head continue to die down. The Union dominated from the first whistle, as they applied pressure on the Houston Dynamo’s back line with a great attempt in the fourth minute by Fafa Picault. Picault would not be denied, as he scored off a powerful header from a pinpoint cross from Chris Pontius and the Union grabbed a 1-0 lead. The Union were able to add a second goal to double their lead off of an Ilsinho shot from the center of the box in the 38th minute.
