As reported by Brotherly Gamelast week, the MLS Expansion Draft will go on as planned. Today, MLS released the official rules of the 2016 Expansion Draft for Minnesota United FC and Atlanta United. The full rules can be read here, but here’s the gist of it:
- Only one player can be selected from each team. Once a player is selected from a team, that’s it.
- Clubs can protect 11 players. Generation adidas players (Andre Blake, Josh Yaro, and Fabian Herbers) and players signed via the Homegrown Player mechanism (Derrick Jones and Auston Trusty) are exempt.
