Philadelphia Union and MLS have partnered to recognize leaders in the community who are using soccer to improve the lives of others.
Union fans nominated Mikael Rumphrey who has dedicated his life to serving his country as the organization's Community MVP.
Rumphrey served the United States on several tours to the Middle East and worked the security desk to ensure the safety of his fellow soldiers.
Often times when soldiers return home, they struggle readjusting to daily activities, experience emotional trauma and encounter financial difficulties.
After he served, Rumphrey came home and joined the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help other service members in need transition back into civilian life.
