In a game that the Union need to win in order to keep their playoff hopes mathematically alive, they lead at the half. Marcus Epps’s 28th-minute strike has the Union ahead of the Seattle Sounders through 45 minutes.
Epps’s goal came after a great sequence from the Union midfield, culminating with a left-footed finish from the right-footed rookie. A defense-splitting ball from Ilsinho found Epps in acres of space, giving the rookie plenty of time to bang one past Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei.
The Union were in clear control in the first half, keeping the majority of the possession and preventing Seattle from registering a shot.
