Team Compactness Analyzed: The fine line of positional play and decision making
Team compactness is something stressed constantly, and a core principle of our defensive style. Against Montreal, our first goal came directly from this compactness, our ability to get pressure on the ball and break quickly to the opponent’s goal. On the first goal against, our lack of compactness led to a lot space given to Montreal’s special player Ignacio Piatti and he made us pay. It is a fine line in the league and something we need to continue to be more consistent with over 90 minutes.
