Former Union player Fred will serve as the team's honorary captain on Throwback Night when the Union host New York Red Bulls Saturday night.
Fred was a member of the Union's inaugural season, and returned to the team for the 2014-15 seasons. In his first stint with the club, Fred played 25 games and started 24, scoring four goals and adding a single assist.
Fred returned to the Union in the 2014 season, where he played 11 games. He scored the final goal of his MLS career at home on July 16, 2014 against New York Red Bulls in a 3-1 victory.
