Former Philadelphia Union midfielder Chris Pontius announced Tuesday morning that he was hanging up his books and retiring from professional soccer after an 11 year career in Major League Soccer.

After spending his first seven years down I95 at DC United, Pontius joined the Boys in Blue ahead of the 2016 season and had a season that Union fans won't forget.
