Fontana earns Captain's Armband in Union's third session of preseason scrimmage

This past Saturday, Philadelphia Union took on New York Red Bulls in a hard-fought scrimmage, where the Boys in Blue fell short 4-3

In the contest, Homegrown midfielder Anthony Fontana wore the Captain’s Armband in the third and final session of the scrimmage.

The 18-year-old has turned heads on the coaching staff during preseason and they rewarded the midfielder with the honor of wearing the Captain’s Armband.

Head Coach Jim Curtin has been impressed with the youngster, even mentioning that he has a great environment to grow in as a player.

“I think we have a good environment for him to grow and have a lot of people in his ear helping him a lot,” Curtin said.
