When Chris Wingate arrived at training last week, Bethlehem Steel FC head coach called the 22-year-old into his office. When sat down, he was joined by James Chambers and Philadelphia Union midfielder Adam Najem. In that meeting, Wingate learned he’d be earning his first professional start.
“When Coach Burke called us into his office and said that we’d be the midfield for the match, we immediately we began discussing shape and tactics,” Wingate said. “James was talking to me constantly and telling me where I should be and overall was helping me out. I had played that position before but he has been playing for much longer than I have so he was passing along his knowledge that you only get from experience.
