For most sports fans in the Northeast, the eternal sign of spring has always been the local Major League Baseball team heading to Florida for Spring Training. For years the Philadelphia Phillies have made the annual pilgrimage to Clearwater, Fla., perhaps foreshadowing some sunlight and warmth for fans back north.
But for the Nederostek’s, a dedicated all-Philly sports family, they’ve joined the movement alongside the Union by ditching the snow and ice for a few days in February. Parts of the family have now made the annual fan trip four times and are looking forward to returning to Clearwater for this year’s event from Feb.
