According to a report in yesterday’s Toronto Sun, Toronto FC center back Drew Moor was very close to signing for the Philadelphia Union in 2016. While this isn’t entirely new news, the details provided from Moor are new and newsworthy.
At the end of his 2015 season with the Colorado Rapids, Moor was among the first crop of MLS free agents. We knew the Union pursued Moor during the free agency through sources close to the situation. The Union and TFC were “the two teams that came (to Moor) right away”, and with Moor’s wife being from New Jersey it seemed a sure bet he’d be in blue and gold for the 2016 season.
