So far in 2018, Philadelphia Union have welcomed new players to the First Team, including the signing of two Homegrown players — defenders Matt Real and Mark McKenzie.
Real debuted as a professional last season with Bethlehem Steel FC — scoring one goal and adding one assist in 17 appearances, all starts, seeing the field for 1,607 minutes.
Prior to signing with Steel, Real rose through the Union’s Academy system, appearing in 46 matches across the U-16 and U-18 teams.
Mark McKenzie, a product of the Union Academy, played last season at Wake Forest University after making eight appearances for Bethlehem Steel FC as an amateur.
