Philadelphia Union earned a convincing 3-1 win over Eastern Conference foe Chicago Fire on Saturday night in front of a sold out crowd of 18,619 at Talen Energy Stadium. CJ Sapong recorded his 14th goal of the season, tying a club record for goals scored in a single campaign, while Chris Pontius tallied his first two goals of the season in the victory.
The Union got the crowd going early with a goal in the 10th minute, as Warren Creavalle started the play and found 2016 MLS All-Star Keegan Rosenberry on the far side of the pitch. After a nifty fake, Rosenberry sent a left-footed ball into the box that found the head of Pontius, who brilliantly gave Philadelphia the 1-0 lead.
