Philadelphia Union fell to Eastern Conference rival D.C. United 2-1 in front of a crowd of 14,560 at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. on Saturday night. The loss drops Philadelphia to 0-2-2 on the season.
2016 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Andre Blake came up big for Philadelphia in the early moments of the match. Blake made back-to-back saves on D.C. United’s Lloyd Sam and Luciano Acosta to keep the match scoreless.
D.C. United was able to break through in the 18th minute. After Blake made a clearing attempt, the ball bounced off of the head of Fabinho and into the possession of Sam who delivered a pass to José Guillermo Ortiz.
