CJ Sapong records first career hat-trick as Philadelphia defeats New York Red Bulls 3-0

Philadelphia Union earned their first win of the season tonight against their Eastern Conference rivals New York Red Bulls 3-0 in front of a crowd of 16,297 at Talen Energy Stadium. The Union were led by striker CJ Sapong who recorded a hat-trick to secure the victory. It was the third hat trick in Union history.

The Union controlled the tempo of the match during the first half of the contest. 2016 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Andre Blake was spectacular for Philadelphia in net on Saturday night. The Jamaican star came up big for the Union in the 20th minute as the Red Bull attack pressured the Union zone.
