The Union were rewarded for one of their most entertaining performances of the season with a 3-1 win over the Chicago Fire at Talen Energy Stadium.
It was the Union’s first win since August 5, snapping a streak of six games without a victory.
Chris Pontius got the Union (9-12-9, 36 points) on the board first, heading in a pinpoint cross from Keegan Rosenberry in the 10th minute. It was Pontius’ first goal of the season after 2,024 minutes played in league and U.S. Open Cup games.
