Union forward Chris Pontius was officially named MLS Comeback Player of the Year on Wednesday afternoon. Pontius had a career year during the 2016 campaign, setting a new personal record for assists in a season with six, and tying a career-high 12 goals. In just one season he seemlessly transitioned into a new organization and become a fundamental part of the Union's offense.
After the announcement had been made and congratulations poured in over social media - Pontius shared his reaction on Twitter.
Thank you for all the love! Great to win the award but it could have never happened without my teammates and the staff around me!
