Philadelphia Union recognized Children’s Choice as the team’s Charity of the Match when they went up against New York City FC on April 14.
Children’s Choice was founded in 1982 in Chester, Penn., by Rev. Drs. William and Carolyn Eberwein. They had worked in a variety of social service fields, including church ministries, juvenile justice, prisons, halfway houses and fundraising. Through their experience, they noticed the children of some of their clients were entering the social service system and repeating the patterns of their parents. The Eberweins believed if they could reach out to people at an earlier age, then perhaps the cycle of suffering and dependency could be broken.
