Delran native Carli Lloyd injured her left ankle on Sunday during the Houston Dash’s game against FC Kansas City.
The two-time reigning FIFA women’s world player of the year suffered the injury in the 26th minute of the contest when she jumped to contest a ball in the air with Kansas City’s Desiree Scott. Lloyd came down awkwardly on her left foot, took one hop and let out a howl of anguish as she hit the deck. She immediately grabbed her left leg, and stayed down for a while.
Initially, Lloyd was able to walk off the field under her own power.
