Carli Lloyd ready to play before home crowd for U.S. women

Carli Lloyd is a an international soccer icon, the reigning FIFA world women's player of the year, and somebody who has been to all parts of the globe plying her trade.

Yet there is something about returning home, and for Lloyd that means the Delaware Valley.

A two-time Inquirer South Jersey Player of the Year while attending Delran, Lloyd returned this weekend with the U.S. Women's National Team for Sunday's 2 p.m. sold-out international friendly against Colombia at Chester's Talen Energy Stadium, home of the Union.

"Every time I come back home I get this sense-of-pride feeling," Lloyd said before her team's practice Saturday in frigid and snowy conditions.
