The Philadelphia Union finished off the best season in franchise history with a disappointing 2-1 loss to the Eastern Conference winners, NYCFC on October 6 at home.
While the Union had already secured a home playoff game, a win would have provided much needed momentum leading into the playoffs after struggling in the final month of the regular season. The Union were able to create a high number of chances this game while only having 46% possession, although were lacking the finishing required to ultimately win the game.
